First impressions count
Having a life and selling a house don’t always go hand in hand.
Here are some tips to help you do both.
-
If you are in a hurry and don’t have time to do
the dishes one idea is to keep a space in the
kitchen cupboard for an opaque plastic box with lid. When in a
hurry, put you dishes in the box, and store away out of sight!
-
Keep a plastic box in the living area, kid’s
room or laundry. You can quickly throw your mess in and tuck the
box away before buyers arrive. When they leave you know where
you put things!
-
You can also keep things such as a clean
tablecloth, fresh candles or other accessories in the ‘tidy-up’
boxes. That way you have all these things ready ahead of time
and don’t have
to hunt for them just before a buyer knocks on your door!
-
Don’t leave out personal items. This includes
your underwear, but also any bills, bank statements or
confidential information.
-
Clean out your dishwasher. Potential buyers will
check the whitegoods!
-
Don’t use strong carpet deodorizers or room
fresheners. These suggest you are masking a problem. Also, some
people are repelled by strong scents.
